Redesign of the visual language of Sur Jahan, a world music festival featuring diverse genres like folk, jazz, and classical, showcasing instruments from all around the world—from sitars to saxophones. An attempt to include elements more in sync with their philosophy and create a versatile visual library.

CONCEPT


The festival’s central figure embodies the coming together of global music, promoting peace and the joyful appreciation of diverse harmonies.


Through the elements(instrument, arch, instruments ship) convey the aspect of world collaboration and cultural harmony. Elements from textiles and music handicrafts have been used.

INSTRUMENT; Amalgamation of 6 Instruments from around the world

AMALGAMATED INSTRUMENT


The instrument is a combination of the characteristics of the most famous and prominent instruments from the major countries performing at Sur Jahan.


Patterns and textures from those respective countries have been overlayed to show diversity and harmony.

LEFT: Tote Bag Adaptation

CENTRE: Entry band; Eco friendly and Souvenir

RIGHT: Event Singer

ARCH


It has elements from Gothic, Hindu and Islamic Arches. The motifs are taken from Indian architecture along with European and east asian motifs. Abstract Motif of a dove holding an Olive Branch is seen multiple times.

Working on Sur Jahan’s identity made me realise the importance of balancing expressive decoration with functional communication. The project pushed me to think about how visuals can stay versatile and true to the festival’s philosophy, while still feeling engaging and celebratory.
